I filed 485 in July 2007 and got the 485 receipt nos for myself and wife and my daughter. Both my wife and myself got EADs too. Though i applied EAD for my daughter [who is under 4 years at the time of application], i neither received EAD reciept nor the application back. I saw in some other threads that kids under 10years are not getting EADs. Is it true?
I know some may ask why we need EADs for kids? My daughter 's I-94 is expired on Oct 10th 2007 and i applied EAD for her in july just in case though she cant work.
Any ideas?

Good to see motivated members.....
It is certain that the politicians will not touch the immigration topic in the next one year. Even after best efforts of the president the immigration bill failed in the senate few months ago.
One and only one thing that can be tried before Nov 2008 is the recapture of visa numbers from the last five years. I think IV should push for that.
Other than the above not much can happen, get ready for really long cold winter and then a looong hot summer. I wish things were better.

Indian Government sources had said that the Bureau of Diplomatic Security had contacted the ministry of external affairs (MEA), India around the time Mr Pacheco was incarcerated for his alleged involvement in the mysterious death of his girlfriend Nadia Torrado � he was in jail from July 9 till July 26, when he was awarded bail. He is a former Goa, India tourism minister Francisco Xavier �Mickky� Pacheco was caught on the backfoot on Sunday once again as reports surfaced that the US State Department�s Bureau of Diplomatic Security had informed India that Mr Pacheco might be involved in a big immigration and money laundering racket.
Mr Pacheco used to operate an employment agency along with his estranged wife Sara Pacheco which specialized in finding employment for Goans abroad. But according to the former minister, he has had nothing to do with the agency since he separated from his wife around four years back.

My H-1 extension got approved recently . My visa has expired on the passport and I need to get a new stamp. The dates in all Indian consulates are full.
So can someone let me know whether going to canada/mexico for extension stamping is ok?

U r absolutely right........ i have heard ppl saying they are willing to transfer H-1B's but they say they wont process GC............. This is just un believable.......... I guess the whole idea is to recycle ppl after every 6 years..........

You will have to open a service request (SR) with USCIS after 30 days have passed. Once you open a SR , usually service center will people will call and confirm about the current status and in about 45 days from SR open date they will try resolve the issue. If 45 days have passed, then you will have to take an infopass appointment figure out. Hope this helps!

USCIS might re-start PP for I-140 once they complete receipting 485 applications and EAD, AP approvals for July and August filers..which may take atleast 3 to 4 more months!!

That helps somehow I was under impression that once you invoke AC21 you have to use EAD. I prefer to be on H1 as long as possible till GC come.

yes. AC21 is a provision to allow you to change employers without affecting ur 485. It has nothing to do with work authorization. Your authorization can come from ead or h1 transfer.

Saw it. However, if my experience with slashdot is anything to go by, we wont get any sympathy from fellow (US citizen/GC) techies there .. they have been brainwashed into believing that we actually stole their jobs ... in any case their opinion does not matter much. The only folks who count are the media and lawmakers.

Greetings,
I have a pending 485 application under EB3 category through my wife's application. However, recently her employer applied for the EB3-EB2 change since she already qualifies for EB2. I understand that the priority date remains the same. In our case the priority date is Feb 05. I wanted to know what will be the process going forward. Currently the EB3-EB2 application is on the PERM labor state. Once that gets approved does it mean that our I485 will be adjudicated immediately since for EB2 the priority date has already gone past ours (feb 05)? Or we will need to then apply for another I-140?
If anyone knows the process of EB3 to EB2 transfer can he/she kindly post it?

You have to apply a new I-140 for the EB2 only then you can interfile with I-485.

I'm also pleased to announce that we will be extending the validity period of the employment authorization documents that we issue to individuals who are waiting adjustment of status to lawful permit residenture or in colloquial phrase, the green card.
Currently, adjustment applications are granted employment authorization documents with only a one year maximum validity. Beginning later this month, we'll start issuing these documents with a two-year validity period for aliens who are waiting adjustment of status if their application is expected to be pending for more than a year.
This, again, is eliminating a persistent source of frustration for workers who are here, who have a pending adjustment application but have to go and renew their employment documents every single year. It's going to cut the paperwork there.

I think digital camera marked is very close to home computers. I used to buy the latest and greatest computer every yar and a half or so, until I realized I spent a hefty premium for the cutiing edge, and the next level down (yesterday's best) was so much cheaper, and offered all I needed. Camera bodies I believe are just about there.
