I'm sorry to hear about your mom's situation.

Obtaining the green card doesn't mean your mom has to come here immediately. She can attend the interview and choose to come at a later point. I'm not too familiar with the appointment process/wait times etc but it seems like a lot of hassle to have to reapply.

Is postponement of the interview a choice?

I dont know how long ago you obtained your green card or citizenship but these days it's a loooooooooooooooooooooong wait for the elusive GC. So grab your chance when it comes.

That was my two cents.

Just couple of days ago immigration-law.com reported about IV and its efforts to bring relief to high skilled community and 2 days later the site gets hacked. I wonder if anti-immigrants have anything to do with it ...... they may be really scared to IV :D

OR .. Matthew Oh really screwed up a programmer's green card process and he/she is really mad.

HI,

I am in my 7th yr extension of H1B, last time I got the stamping in Ottawa in 2005. I cam e into US on F1 and never got H1B stamping in India. Am I eligible for H1B stamping in Canada for my 8th year or should I go to India to get the stamping done.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

I am changing jobs from ohio to another state ,job title and description are same..but the pay mght be 20%less....

Is this gonna be a problem or is it ok if the new pay is more than the prevailing wage for that state..for the same job description.

EAD is employment authorization document. Your analogy is like -

"Can I use her driving licence to drive around town". I am not sure if that is what you meant.

If you want her to be the primary applicant in your GC application and then use EAD as a dependent, that is possible. You will lose your H1B status then.

i believe this would be a problem. I had a similar mistake(address) on my wife's AP, but the lawyer responded saying name could be an issue but not the address..

I can tell you only my plans -- I am planning to visit India for 1 week. My H1-B is valid till 2010 so I will use H1-B visa to renter at Chicago. Also, 1099 or W2, it does not matter. You can take either one.

First thing is you need to renew your passport.
Old passport will be given back.
Also if your passport is not having more than 6 months validity, US Consulate may not stamp your visa and also there could be problem with your travel. (This is my opinion)
