I went through this experience. My I-140 was approved but never received any receipt or approval notice. Finally, my lawyer had to file I-824 (To request further action on an approved application or petition). This is a slow process and it took about 10 months for us to get the duplicate approval. All other request for sending the copy of approval notice etc did not work.

And also around bay area- san roman, liver moore are they good neighbourhood. Also which has more jobs in datawarehousing is it LA or bayarea.
House prices in California have fallen significantly this year. However, they are still out of reach for most of the first time buyers. Simi Valley and Santa Clarita are nice places to live but still quite expensive. You may be able to find a townhouse for the range that you have mentioned. Please browse www.realtor.com and run some searches by cities to get an idea.
Remember, it's very difficult to get a loan nowadays. The lender will now check how much you really make. The general rule for qualifying a loan is that you need to make at least 1/3rd per year of the house that you are buying. For example: if you make $50K a year, you can qualify for a mortgage up to $50K*3=$150K and not more than that.
Good luck on your search.

There are no TAX on selling price as long as you stayed in the house for 2 year , you can exclude up to $250,000 ($500,000 for a married couple)
If you meet the two-year ownership and use tests for a principal residence, and don't sell more than one principal residence in any two-year period, you can exclude any capital gain tax on the sale - up to the $250,000 or $500,000
When you close your sale, your real state lawer will pay to your bank, your real estate agent, your reality transfer fee and other misc fee like Attorney fee etc.
I have sold 2 houses in last 7 years and no real estate lawyer ever asked for 10% tax!!!

If at all your current employer wants to do anything they can sue your new H1 sponsor or the end client. If your end client and new employer's attorneys are ok to sponsor H1 and job contract, then you don't have to worry.
3 years before I wanted to join my then end client directly. But their vendor manager refused becos they had signed an agreement with my then employer stating that they will not hire any resource for 6 months from the date they leave the work.

Man, this guy is a GC holder. He is going to marry a girl in India. At some point, he would become citizen and ask his wife to move with him. This is a natural process. Why is USCIS putting an unnecessary delay of several years by not allowing one's spouse to join him/her? It is beyond my understanding to think how lawmakers missed this simple reasoning!
Sorry, I don't have helpful suggestion for you but am just purely frustrated that a GC holder who wants to start a family can't do whenever he/she is ready.

In the Comprehensive Bill (Pls. see summary of this bill) to be discussed on the Senate/House floor Feb-06, Page 6 Section 311 provides for exemption on temporary workers with advanced degrees from US universities from numerical limit.

With this provision going into effect, it will free up current H1s that have gone towards the count of numerical limit in current financial Yr. USCIS may have to do the count again to differentiate between applicants with advanced degrees from US universities and come up with the number of free H1s. My guestimate is it maybe 30% of the total visa avaliable which is something like 30% of (65K+20K) ~ 25K.

Unless I am mistaken, this was true only for non-PERM scenario if you were already employed for the firm that sponsored your GC.
In the case when your sponsoring employer is the same as the H1B employer, under PERM, you are supposed to be paid no less than 100% of the prevailing wage that is mentioned in your LC at the time the LC is filed.

afaik it still does not matter. As long as the job is a future position, then salary can be anything. PERM made one change in LC wage requirement, and that was to make it >= 100% of the prevailing wage in that area for that position (used to be 95% earlier).

Well, I disagree - I am sure they have certain number of work force dedicated to work on I-485 cases. They will not accept any I-485 till October....so tell me one more time what are they going to do till October?

Its been over 3 weeks since my wife have H4 interview and the passport is still under "admin processing". This week her AP came and I have mailed it to her and now we want to get the passport back and travel on AP.
Now if anyone knows or done the process of getting the passport back from Delhi Consulate, can they please explain?

She cant use her AP to reenter as her AP was approved when she was out of the country. So no use getting the passport back , the processof getting her passport back is wiritng to them that you are withdrawing your visa application but i would suggest not to do that as in your case AP would not her help for re enry.

Even I did not receive my AP ,which I applied last year july 2007.
Coudn't wait anymore...its kids vacation time.I took infopass ,the IO asked me why I had not contact ed all this time.I explained to her that the constant response whenever I called the 1-800 # was 30days -60 days.
she made us wait for almost 2 1/2 hours.
Finally she asked to submit new application ,2 photoes,2 copies of our BCertificates.
She gave our AP for me and my wife right away.
So I advice you to take Info pass and check.Ap what I received was in paper.
