I have the red laser app on my phone for scanning barcodes and it no longer works. I added 3 other scanning apps and they don't work either. Does anyone have a solution? I turned the phone off for a while but that didn't fix the problem.

I bought .mac last year and don't use it at all. The new webmail interface puts the email app on par with gmail except gmail still gives much more storage.
Backup is OK but I find SuperDuper to an external hard drive to be more reliable (I couldn't get .mac to restore my backup when my hard drive crashed). The backup software is again hindered by the lack up storage. It might be more useful if at least my iTunes purchases were automatically uploaded to .Mac.
Finally, I figured out how to subscribe to a google calendar with iCal and since then don't care if my calendar is in .Mac.
Hopefully, Leopard and Time Machine will bring new uses for .Mac and a reason for me to buy it again but right now it is a $100 a year place to host my website which I could get for much cheaper as well...Please don't flame. This is just my perspective.

These new features sound awesome, especially the ability to resize a text box. Also the imroved search functionality will be a god send for me, as I use it very much.

This is the first MWSF in years where there is not a single product, hardware or software, that is ready to ship today.
It's so dissapointing that there was no Leopard, iWork, iLife, not to mention the lack of any actual computer hardware updates.
Like others have mentioned, I care little for AppleTV and a phone that might not be available to buy where I live (UK) for nearly a year. Don't even know why he bothered mentioning a product that won't be ready to ship in any region for half a year, much less spending 90 minutes of a keynote on it.

Today I was using disk inventory x to see how my new SSD is looking, and I noticed a large 4GB document file called sleepimage.
I googled it, found out what it was, safely deleted it through terminal, and read up about what it is and what it does. Turns out it is supposed to be deleted after the computer wakes up, but obviously its not doing that anymore. I repaired disk permissions and its still not deleting it like it should. If anyone could shed any light onto this i would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks goodness Apple aren't infringing Samsung's "GPS" system... I'd much prefer to use GPS quickly and accurately, without having to root a device... then run an app to correct things! :D

I think the free 38 character engraving is one of the things that makes this product so special. Buying one without it seems to devalue it's significance to me. :rolleyes: :confused: :eek:

Apple can string on the consumer market, holding back features which their competitors have had for years and take for granted, and when they finally add them, they're already out of date. Sprinkle on some 'magic' and consumers eat it up.
The Professional market use their tools to make money and drive their workflow. If a product/solution like FCS becomes uncompetitive, the customer will move on.
Apple probably know that they can't compete in this space, at least profitably. Both Shake and Xserve are gone. The Macpro on price/performance is really poor value. And whilst FCS is brilliant value, it never really leaps ahead in terms of added features or optimisation.
It's possible that Apple in 5 years time will be a purely consumer electronics company, with no 'computers' in the traditional sense in it's line up. If this bears out, Pro Applications and Hardware, don't really figure into that reality.

I work for an AT&T retailer and YES we do offer insurance on the iphone. ATT will NOT insure it due to the overwhelming demand for it, they would lose so much money forked out to ppl for stolen iPhones. Apple Care is NOT insurance it is just an extended warranty!
Warranty covers only manufacturer's defects (which are very rare)
Insurance covers a phone that has been lost, dropped, stolen, dropped in the toilet, any sort of physical or water damage! If you are lucky enough to get the iPhone for the subsidized price it won't happen again. I'm an Apple fan, but the truth has to be told: a) 3.5" is TOO small to be practical. I have a Motorola DEFY with a 3.7" display, and even then, the on screen keyboard is not large enough in portrait mode, at least 4 to 4.3" is vital. A larger display is also easier on the eyes when reading lengthy texts. b) Lack of camera shutter release is a major and idiotic decision. You cannot take self portraits, further it is not possible to simply pick up the phone (as you can with some Android and even WP7 handsets) and press the camera button to fire up the camera and shoot away without needing to hit an icon on the 'desktop' first. c) Lack of standard MicroUSB port means having to rely on Apple cabling - forget the cable and you're hosed if no one else has one. d) Call quality is not good enough for serious use due to the design flaws. Yes, it may be a superb gaming and multimedia phone, but I know many people with iPhones and have owned a 3GS, and when talking to them, the call quality is not as good as other brands, further, they lose signal more easily. (Here in the UK.) e) Reliance on iTunes is another hindrance. You feel chained to your main computer. With an Android phone, you are liberated.
Again, I'm an Apple fan, I have an iPad and desktop Macs, but the design flaws in all iPhone models have made that platform too much of a liability.
Let's hope iPhone 5 features ThunderBolt, a larger display, a dedicated camera shutter release and that iOS 5 removes iTunes from the equation.
Consumers are getting savvy thanks to the enlightenment (and lower cost) that Android delivers. Google are keeping Apple in check, and that's good for us consumers!

1) As people said, it was an "old design" when most people not expect a new iPhone release every summer.
2) They released a 3G iPhone as Verizon is releasing LTE devices. I wouldn't buy any 3G phone today and be locked in for 2 years.
Now add the fact that Verizon customers (myself included) never knew when to expect a verizon iPhone, and sort of gave up waiting. Those points above are not nearly enough reason to do an early upgrade and pay full price for the "older" style iPhone. I'll probably get a Verizon iPhone when I am out of the contract with my Droid X, but that's not till Summer 2012.
I do know a bunch of people that left Verizon for the iPhone that said they will come back, but are not going to pay those astronomical ETFs to do it.... especially to then buy the same phone they already have.
Wait for a next generation LTE iPhone to show up and people to run out their contract, and I bet a lot of people switch to Verizon.
